Roland Wiest
Research Director
Prof. Dr. med.
Roland Wiest’s principal line of research focuses on the implementation of neuroimaging techniques related to the diagnosis of epilepsy. In 2010, he was appointed as Research Director of the Support Center for Advanced Neuroimaging (SCAN) and in 2012 elected as first professor for advanced neuroimaging in neuroradiology. By this, he extended his focus of research towards computer-assisted neuroimage analysis. Within the framework of the Bernese stroke center, Prof. Wiest established a third line of research by using advanced imaging such as tensor-based morphometry and arterial spin labeling to track motor recovery after an ischemic stroke. This line of research is currently complemented by studies on effects of drug-enhancement in stroke patients.
